Brief Profile

The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering was established in August 1997, with an intake of 60 students in the B.Tech programme which was later enhanced to 120 in 2006. The department has introduced M.Tech. Programme in Power Electronics with an intake of 18 from the academic year 2012. The Department has well experienced and qualified staff from reputed Universities. The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is actively engaged in teaching and research with top notch laboratories and excellent members of faculty. The staff members of EEE Department have dedicated themselves to produce bright, dynamic, dedicated and intellectual students who produce outstanding records. Well equipped and highly sophisticated laboratories are the major strength of the dept which enable the faculty to do the best job of producing well trained students. Every year new experiments are being introduced in the laboratories and new equipment are being added.

The department has witnessed substantial growth in all the areas of activities since inception. For example graduates of the department have been successfully employed in the industries and institutions of higher learning of government and private . Feed back of our graduates from their field of practice has been satisfying and encouraging .Also some of our graduates have successfully completed their post graduate studies at home and abroad , while some are currently undertaking such studies. Two of our students had secured First Ranks in the J.N.T. University exams and won the Gold-Medals in 2001 (I batch) and 2003 (III batch). The Dept has put every effort to keep the students abreast with all the latest developments in the field of Electrical Engineering.

A separate Departmental library has been established which consists of important text books, Old University Question papers, project reports, journals and manuals of all the laboratory courses. Every year regular Industrial visits are arranged to N.T.P.C, 220/132 KV Durshed substation etc. The students are encouraged to participate in seminars, paper presentation contests, extempore etc. Department has been regularly organizing technical seminars, workshops on emerging areas, expert Guest lectures by inviting eminent professors from various Universities and expert Industry professionals from N.T.P.C, APTransco, APGenco, Power grid corporation of India, DRDL etc. The students of the Department achieve 90% and above pass percentages in each year. Many students of the Department are already working in NTPC, All India Radio, Infosys, Satyam, Wipro, IBM, APTRANSCO, APGENCO and also many students working as faculty members in various engineering colleges. In addition there is a digital library that is equipped with state of the art computers which provides link to the IEEE explore digital library for both the under graduate and post graduate students

Mission

The department of electrical and electronics engineering provides a progressive environment by leading through systematic teaching methodologies, rigorous practical training and contemporary curriculum research through creative activities in conventional and thrust areas of electrical and electronics engineering. Actively engage and mentor students in scholarly and creative endeavors to develop the ability to navigate through a rapidly changing technology and society. Faculty dedicate through excellence in teaching exemplified by a free exchange of ideas, fostering new understandings through research and creativity.

Short Term Goals

• To provide all the amenities and develop laboratory facilities in the department to impart quality technical education.

• To introduce all the state-of-the-art teaching aids in the classroom and to infuse interest in the students.

• To organize Industrial Tours to final and pre-final year students so as to keep them abreast of the developments in the industry.

• To encourage all final and pre-final year students to face competitive examinations and to make them successful by offering necessary training programs.

• To train our all-final year students to face on-campus and off-campus interviews with confidence and secure good placements.

• To persuade all the faculty members to improve their qualifications and within the next 3 years.

• To sponsor more faculty members to participate in a National level conference every year.

• To sponsor more faculty members to attend short-term courses on latest trends in Electrical & Electronics Engineering every year.

• To organize more number of Faculty Development Programs and Symposium every year.

• Offering training facilities to external candidates in specialized areas.

• To encourage faculty members to present research paper every year.

• Encouraging students to attend poster presentation, conferences, seminars etc.

• Skills of Technical staff has to be improved.

• Organizing events like Technical fest and to improve communication skills among the students.

• To achieve cent percent result.

• To achieve 90% placements among eligible candidates through campus selections.

• To arrange Special classes for rural students for improving communication Skills.

• College with rural roots excels in games and ,strive to produce at least one national level players in four years.

• All Information concerning students/staff to be made available On-line.

• To motivate the faculty to remain exposed to the Industrial process & activities.

• To Keep faculty members abreast with the latest trends and developments in Research, Technology and Teaching Methodology especially through interaction, by deputing them to other premier institutions for research and by conducting AICTE-ISTE sponsored STTPs in our college.

• To encourage faculty members to present a research paper every year.

• To promote the qualities of ethical values, integrity, Discipline and personality among the students

Program Educational Objectives

PREPARATION: Graduates will practice the profession of electrical and electronics engineering using a systems perspective and analyze ,design ,develop, optimize and implement complex electrical systems to succeed in industry technical profession through global ,rigorous education and apply a broad fundamental based knowledge and up-to date skills required in performing professional work in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and related disciplines.

CORE COMPETENCE:To provide solid foundation to students in basic mathematics, science and electrical & electronics engineering ,that will enable them to contribute industrial service ,and/or government organizations by applying the skills and knowledge acquired through formal education and their cooperative educational experience and design works pertaining to electrical and electronics engineering, incorporating the use of design standards , realistic constraints and considerations of the economic, environmental and social impact of the design.

BREADTH: To prepare students to acquire necessary technical and analytical skills and use modern computer software tools to solve Electrical and Electronics Engineering problems and explain and defend their solutions and communicate effectively using graphic, verbal and written techniques.

PROFESSIONALISM: To prepare graduates who will draw upon a broad base of knowledge in providing engineering solutions with in the appropriate technological, global, social, ethical and organizational context to inculcate among them effective communication skills, leadership qualities, multidisciplinary approach & team work skills.

LEARNING ENVIRONMENT: To prepare graduates who are capable of maintaining and improving their technical competence through lifelong learning and aware of excellence, leadership, written ethical codes and guidelines needed for a successful professional and personal growth.

Program Outcomes

a) Graduates will demonstrate the knowledge of mathematics, Science and basics of Electrical, Electronics and Computer science and Engineering.

b) Graduates demonstrate an ability to design Electrical and Electronic circuits and conduct experiments with Electrical and Electronic systems, analyze and interpret data.

c) Graduates will demonstrate an ability to design digital and analog systems, its components or process to meet the desired needs with in realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability and sustainability.

d) Graduates will demonstrate an ability to work on multidisciplinary teams.

e) Graduates will demonstrate an ability to identify, formulate and solve Electrical and Electronics engineering problems.
