An Awareness Programme on “Road Safety & Anti-Ragging” was organized by Indian Youth Secured Organization (IYSO) at Jyothishmathi Institute of Technology & Science, Karimnagar for the benefit of students. The awareness Programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest of the function, Mr. K. Chakravarthy, DSP of Karimnagar. Principal Dr A. R. Naseer delivered the Welcome address. In his welcome address, he reiterated the importance of Road Safety as the highway from Karimnagar town to Nustulapur area where several Engineering colleges are located is highly accident-prone. This stretch has witnessed maximum number of accidents and in many of these cases, students were the victims due to careless & rash driving without wearing helmets. Keeping in view of these, he stated that the college has introduced safety rule of wearing Helmets and carrying valid Driving License which should be followed by every student/staff driving two-wheelers to enter the college premises. He also sought the full cooperation of the parents in implementing these by ensuring that their wards carry valid driving license and wear helmets before leaving their houses on Two-wheeler vehicles. Chief Guest Mr. K. Chakravarthy elaborated on Students’ objectives, Goals, and values of their lives along with education. He said that students ought to carry their driving license, RC, Insurance Policy and Pollution Check papers with them as they are the most responsible citizens of this society. He insisted that the students should not travel on footboard, on back seat of autos and not indulge in triple-riding. Speaking on “Anti-ragging”, he bluntly stated that Ragging is menace to the Society and it should be curbed/eradicated. Those who indulge in ragging activities will be punished with fine ranging from Rs 500 to Rs. 5 lakhs and rigorous imprisonment for 6 months. The college Chairman J. Sagar Rao garu expressed his grief and concern as many students are the victims of road accidents. In this regard, college introduced the safety rule that no student is allowed to enter into the college campus without driving license & Helmet. He urged the students to follow the Road Safety rules strictly as student life is precious. He was also happy to announce that no ragging case has been reported in the college campus since its inception and declaring it as “RAGGING FREE ZONE”. The IYSO Chairman Ghanshyam Ojha conducted a Power Point Presentation on “Traffic Rules & Road Safety”. This awareness programme was attended by staff and large number of students.
