Student Exam Guidelines

S.NoStudent Examination Guidelines
1Check the Answer Book thoroughly before filling in the details. The defective answer books can be returned to the invigilator.
2Please check the details of yours particulars in the OMR Sheet. ie. Name, Hall Ticket No., Examination and Papers etc.,
3Ensure that the OMR Barcode Sheet is properly secured to the Answer Booklet given.
4You are prohibited from writing on or tampering the Barcode as they may affect the marks which will be awarded to you.
5Candidates are prohibited from :

  • Writing their H.T.Nos in any part of the answer booklet.

  • Writing their names in any part of the answer booklet.

  • Addressing the examiner in any manner whatsoever in the answer booklet . If they do so, their answers will not be valued.

  • Writing religious symbols.

  • Bringing Cell Phones / Mobile phones.

6Before beginning to answer any question, the candidates should write the correct number of that question. They should complete the answer for any question and commence writing answer for the succeeding question. Answer written at different places for the same question will not be valued.
7Answers should be written on both sides of the paper.
8Do not write out of the margin.
9No loose sheets of paper will be allowed in the examination room; no paper must be detached from or attached to the answer booklets.
10Answer must be legibly written.
11Candidates should write not less than 25 lines in each page. It is not necessary to begin each answer in fresh page.
12This answer booklet should be returned to the Invigilator before leaving the examination hall.
13Enter the question Paper Set number (i.e., 1 or 2 or 3 or 4) received by them in the Block specified on the first pag
14Students should stay in the Examination Hall at least for half-an-hour from the commencement of the Examination.
15NO ADDITIONAL ANSWER BOOKLET WILL BE SUPPLIED.

GUIDELINES TO INVIGILATORS

S.NoGuidelines To Invigilator
1Report to the Exam Branch at least 30 minutes before the time of commencement of Examination (i.e., 9.30 a.m. for Forenoon Exam & 1.30 p.m. for Afternoon Exam). Invigilators who fail to report within the said time is duly deducted considered as ‘absent’ and half-day salary will be duly deducted.
2Collect the seating plan, examination stationery and be present at the respective hall to which you are allotted at least 15 minutes prior to the commencement of examination.
3The candidates should be present in the examination halls before the commencement of examination i.e. before 10.00 AM for Forenoon Session and before 2.00 PM for Afternoon Session. No candidate should be allowed after the commencement of the Examination.
4The candidates allotted shall be permitted into the examination halls only after verifying their hall tickets.
5The invigilators should ensure that students would not carry any material except Hall Ticket, ID Card & Non-programmable Calculator into the examination halls. Students without ID Card and Hall Ticket should not be allowed to enter the Examination Hall.
6Invigilators shall ensure that time schedules of the examinations are to be strictly adhered to:
7The student should be present in the Examination Hall before the commencement of Examination and no candidate is allowed to enter in the examination hall after the commencement of examination.
8No candidate shall be permitted for toilets during the examination period.
9Under emergency circumstances the candidate can be allowed to go out of the hall by handing over the Answer Booklet and question paper to the invigilator and shall not be permitted back to the hall.
10The Candidate can be allowed to go out only after one and a half hour from the commencement of the examination by collecting the answer booklet and question paper. However, if the candidate wants to leave the hall in the last half an hour, can be allowed to take the question paper with him by submitting the answer booklet to the invigilator.
11The invigilators should distribute the ‘OMR Answer Book’ 15 minutes before the scheduled examination time. Question papers should be distributed at the scheduled time.
12Programmable Calculators, mobiles and Pagers are not allowed for the examinations. The invigilators are instructed to make thorough verification to avoid such things before the students enter the examination hall. College management is not responsible for the student’s belongings left outside the examination halls. Invigilators should not deposit those things.
13The Invigilators should not leave their respective Examination Halls during examination time. Invigilators should not permit any person other than the Director, Chief Superintendent, Principal, DOE, CE and Observer to enter in the examination hall during the Exam.
14The physical identity of the candidates shall be thoroughly checked by comparing their faces with that printed on hall tickets
15The Part-I of OMR sheet of the Answer Booklet is printed with all the details, and the Invigilator should see that every student verifies the details. If there are any discrepancies, the same may be brought to the notice of the Chief Superintendent of Examinations who in turn will replace the damaged /spoiled/unrelated answer booklet by a Blank Answer Booklet. When a “Blank Answer Booklet” is issued to a student, the student has to enter all the details in blocks/spaces provided on the Part-I of OMR sheet, provided at the right top corner.
16There will be a single common question paper for each subject. Ensure that you receive the correct question papers of the subjects of examination for the candidates allotted to your hall.
17The Invigilator shall sign in the box specified in Part-I of the OMR Sheet, after verifying the Answer Booklet with the Hall Ticket Number and the subject of the examination of the student.
18Candidates are prohibited from writing their Hall Ticket Number anywhere in the “Answer Booklet”.
19Invigilators should make a general announcement in the hall before the commencement of the examination if any candidate possessing any written or printed material in any form will liable to be booked under malpractice case and punishment will be given as per the University Exam guidelines
20The Invigilator should make an announcement that all the candidates have to strike off the unused blank pages before submitting the answer book to the Invigilator. Otherwise, it may be treated as invalid for valuation.
21The invigilator should verify each answer booklet whether the number of pages written by the candidates on Part II and Part III are matching with the number of pages actually written and confirm whether the unused pages are struck or not.
22Candidates have to put their signature in the nominal roll supplied. Fill up the entries at the bottom of the nominal roll and affix your signature.
23Please ensure to collect the answer book from the candidates before they leave the examination hall.
24If the candidate is absent put a cross mark across the Hall Ticket Number in the seating arrangement with RED INK.
25At the end of examination collect the answer scripts from the candidates in the increasing order of Hall Ticket numbers and hand over to the Officer-in-charge of examinations.
26The Invigilator should tear off the Part I portion of the cover page of the answer booklet at the end of the examination and shall submit the answer booklets and Part-I portions of the booklets separately. Utmost care is to be taken while tearing and handling Part-1 portions of answer booklets.
27The Invigilator should not use Cell Phones / Laptops in and around the Examination Hall.
28The Invigilator should not create any kind of disturbance to the students in and around the Examination Hall.
29Drawing sheets should be folded to the size of main answer book and the stamp showing the Hall Ticket Number should be attested by Observer or Chief Superintendent.
30Carrying Programmable Calculators, Cell Phones, Pagers and Wallets (purses) into the examination hall is totally prohibited.
31If any candidate strikes off all answers in his / her main answer book, ask the candidate to write, “Struck off by me” on each page.
32Invigilators are not permitted to take their cell phones / Laptops in and around the Examination Hall. They need to either keep the cell phones / Laptops in their office or hand over to Exams branch
33Invigilators should not leave their respective Examination Halls during examination time.
34All the Invigilators shall be relieved only after submitting the ‘Answer Books’ and Part-1 portions of their respective Exam Halls.
Important Note :Please note the following regarding the answer booklet.
1The answer booklet consists of 32 pages with barcoded OMR Sheet stitched to the Answer Booklet. No additional blank sheets will be provided to the student.
2The OMR Sheet is divided into three parts (Part-I, Part-II & Part-III).
3Part-I contains details of student and subject of the Exam. The student has to sign in the box specified in Part-I of the OMR sheet. The Invigilator should see that every student verifies the details. If there are any discrepancies, the same may be brought to the notice of the Chief Superintendent of Examinations who in turn will replace the damaged /spoiled/unrelated answer booklet by a Blank Answer Booklet. 5The Invigilator should tear off the Part I portion of the cover page of the answer booklet at the end of the examination and shall submit the answer booklets and Part-I portions of the booklets separately. Utmost care is to be taken while tearing and handling Part-I portions of answer booklets.
6The student should not write anything else in Part-II & Part-III of the OMR Sheet.
7Invigilators should provide proper instructions to students regarding the filling up of the OMR Sheet before the start of the exam.

Attendance Guidelines for Under Graduates

S.NoAttendance Guidelines for Under Graduates
1A Student Shall be eligible to appear for university examinations if acquires a minimum of 75% of attendance in aggregate of all the subjects.
2condonation of shortage of attendance in aggregate up to 10%(65% above and below 75%) in each semester or I year may be granted by the college Academic Committee.
3A student will not be promoted to the next semester unless he satisfies the attendance requirement of the present semester / I year when he offered next.
4Shortage of attendance below 65% in aggregate shall in NO case be condoned.
5Students whose shortage of attendance is not condoned in any semester / I year are not eligible to take their end examination of that class and their registration shall stand canceled.
6A stipulated fee shall be payable towards condonation of shortage of attendance.
S.NoAttendance Guidelines for Post Graduates
1A regular student should attend all classes and laboratory sessions.
2A student may be discontinued from a course and denied entrance to the final examination if his attendance is less than the limit determined by the University Council.
3A candidate shall be deemed to have eligibility to write end semester examinations in a subject if he has put in at least 75% of attendance in that subject.
4Shortage of attendance up to 10% in any subject ( i.e., 65% and above and below 75%) may be condoned by the College Academic Committee on genuine and valid reasons on representation by the candidate with supporting evidence.1A candidate shall get minimum required attendance at least in three (3) theory subjects to get promoted to the next semester.1Shortage of attendance below 65% shall no case be condoned.
5A Stipulated fee shall be payable towards condonation of shortage of attendance.

Evaluation for Post Graduates

The performance of the candidate in each semester shall be evaluated subject-wise, with a maximum of 100 marks for particulars, on the basis of Internal Evaluation and End Semester Examination.

S.NoEvaluation for Post Graduates
1For the theory subjects 60 marks shall be awarded based on the performance in the End Semester Examination, 40 marks shall be awarded based on the Internal Evaluation. The Internal Evaluation. The internal evaluation shall be made based on the better of the marks secured in the two Mid Term-Examinations conducted one in the middle of the Semester and the other immediately after the completion of Instruction. Each midterm examination shall be conducted for a duration of 120 minutes with 4 questions to be answered out of 6 questions.
2For practical subjects, 60 marks shall be awarded based on the performances in the End Semester Examinations, 40 marks shall be awarded based on the day-to-day performance as Internal Marks.
3There shall be a seminar presentation during the 3rd semester. For the seminar, a student under the supervision of a faculty member, shall collect the literature on a topic and critically review the literature on a topic and critically review the literature and submit it to the Department in a report form and shall make an oral presentation before the Departmental Committee. The Departmental Committee consists of Head of the Department, supervisor and two other senior faculty members of the department. For seminar, there will be the only internal evaluation of 50 marks. A candidate has to secure a minimum of 50% to be declared successful.
4A Candidate shall be deemed to have secured the minimum academic requirement in a subject if he secures a minimum aggregate of 50% of total marks in the End Semester Examination and Internal Evaluation has taken together.
5In case the candidate does not secure the minimum academic requirement in any subject (as specified in 4) he has to reappear for the End Examination in that subject. A candidate shall be given one chance to re-register for each subject provided the internal marks secured by a candidate are less than 55% and he has failed in the end examination. In such a case, the candidate is less than 50% and he has failed in the end examination. In such a case, candidates must re-register for the subject(s) and secure required minimum attendance. Attendance in the re-registered subject(s) has to be calculated separately to become eligible to write the end examination in the re-registered subject(s). The attendance of re-registered subject(s) shall be calculated separately to decide upon the eligibility for writing the end examination in those subject(s). In the event of taking another chance, the internal marks and end examination marks obtained in the previous attempt are mulled.
6In case the candidate secures less than the required attendance in any subjects(s), he shall not be permitted to appear for the End Examination in that subject(s). He shall re-register the subject when next offered.
7Laboratory examination for M.Tech courses must be conducted with two Examiners, one of them being Laboratory Class Teacher and second examiner shall be other Laboratory Teacher.
