An Anti-Drug Awareness Programme was organised by NSS unit of Jyothismathi Institute of Technology and Science (JITS), in which Commissioner of Police, Karimnagar V. Satyanarayana was the chief guest.

He addressed the students that they play a crucial role in rooting out the drug menace from the Telangana state.

He also stated that every student has a part to play in protecting themselves from dangerous drugs.

Stating that drug addicts were resorting to crime, the police would register cases against the drug peddlers and the persons who buy them also. This would loose the chances of getting employment.

He also appealed the students to come forward and inform police in case they find any anti-social activities in their localities.

On the other hand, the JITS management J. Sagar Rao garu on humanitarian grounds announced financial assistance of Rs. 3 lakhs to the father of a first-year student A. Abhishek Varma, who passed away due to massive heart attack recently. On this occasion, the cheque was handed over by the commissioner of police to the bereaved family.
