NCC Unit Inaugurated at Jyothishmathi Institute of Technology and Science
Col. Daniel Lotzem, NCC Commanding officer, 9 Telangana Battalion, Karimnagar, has said that the National Cadet Corps is the largest uniformed youth organization in the world.
Started with 20,000 cadets in the year 1948, the NCC has strength of 40 lakhs cadets in the country, he said and added that the NCC is dedicated in shaping future leaders embodying discipline, leadership and service.
Speaking after inaugurating the NCC unit at Jyothishmathi Institute of Technology and Science (Autonomous), Karimnagar on 28/10/2024, Mr Daniel said that the students of JITS are lucky as they could have NCC unit under the self-financing by the college management. The NCC unit at the JITS would be manned by a retired Army official and the PI staff of the 9 Telangana battalion would also provide necessary guidance to the cadets, he stated.
Educating the students about the importance of joining NCC, he said that the cadets should write B and C certificate examinations and also attend the combined annual training camp conducted by the Battalion. He said that the participation in NCC would instill discipline, leadership, character, courage, camaraderie, patriotism and sportsmanship. The NCC cadets who excel in academics with 85 percent and above marks in the examination would get cadet welfare scholarship (CWS), he said and added that the
NCC would also help the cadets to join the Armed forces and also secure government jobs.
The NCC Commanding officer formally inaugurated the NCC office and planted sapling on the premises and interacted with the cadets. Earlier, he met college chairman Sri.J. Sagar Rao and Secretary J.Sumith Sai, Principal Dr.K S Rao, Subedar Major Sagar Singh and others were also present.
