Ample Job Opportunities in Semiconductor Industry, says Dr.Krishna Kanth Avalur, Director, AMS-OSRAM

Dr.Krishna Kanth Avalur, Director of Analog Mixed- Signal R&D at AMS OSRAM group delivered a talk on “Recent Trends and Challenges in VLSI Domain” at Jyothishmathi Institute of Technology and Science (Autonomous) for B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering students on 20/04/2024.

He said that India pushes to build a strong semiconductor industry and the need for a highly skilled workforce to support the growing ecosystem will continue to increase.

For this, the engineering graduates should be equipped with the necessary skills to cater both to the increasing demand for broad electronics expertise, as well as the niche talent required across the entire semiconductor value chain from design, manufacturing and supply chain, he pointed.

Stating that the country is focusing on establishing semiconductor chip fabrication units which are right now in a few countries like Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia etc. All these units require a large number of VLSI design engineers in the coming days.

Mr. Kanth assured of possible collaboration with JITS to train the students and provide job opportunities in this semiconductor industry by opening a special centre. Stressing on the need to nurture a skilled workforce for the semiconductor industry, he emphasized that the students should have sound knowledge in the design aspects of various electronic circuits in the digital, analog, mixed and RF domains. He also advised to use open source EDA tools for the same.

JITS Chairman Sri.J.Sagar Rao, Correspondent J.Sumith Sai, Principal Dr.K.S.Rao, Dean (Academics) Dr.K.Vaishali and others were present.
