Jyothismathi Institute of Technology and Science (Autonomous) in association with the Telangana Innovation Cell (TGIC), Hyderabad, successfully implemented a pilot village-level innovation program titled “Village Innovation Challenge” in Karimnagar district.

The initiative was conducted in two villages—Velichara and Parlapalli—with enthusiastic participation from local communities. Over 100 villagers participated in Velichara, while more than 40 villagers actively engaged in Parlapalli.

The primary objective of the program was to promote innovation awareness at the grassroots level and to identify real-world problem statements and local innovations directly from village communities.

The program was executed by the Jyothismathi College Innovation Cell under the guidance of Dr. N. Venkateswaran, with active involvement of 10 Innovation Interns. The initiative received strong support from the Telangana Innovation Cell (TGIC), with Mr. Ramesh Goud, Senior Innovation Fellow, providing on-ground mentorship and coordination.

This pilot initiative highlights the impact of college-led innovation ecosystems in empowering rural communities, amplifying local voices, and strengthening grassroots innovation.

The efforts of the students and organizers were appreciated by JITS Chairman Sri J. Sagar Rao, Secretary Sri J. Sumith Sai, Principal Dr. T. Anilkumar, Dean (Academics) Dr. P. K. Vaishali who emphasized the importance of innovation in building a progressive and self-reliant nation.
